Interim WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Gary Antonio Russell joins Wole for an exclusive interview to discuss becoming a world champion, his dominant victory over Victor Santillan, what’s next in his career and much more.

The Capitol Heights, Maryland native captured the Interim WBA Super Bantamweight Championship in August after defeating Victor Santillan by unanimous decision at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Russell controlled the fight with his speed, combinations, defense and ring IQ before putting an exclamation point on the performance by dropping Santillan with a counter right hook early in the 12th round.

Russell improved to 22-1 with 13 knockouts and added another world championship to one of the DMV's most accomplished boxing families. His brother and former featherweight world champion Gary Russell Jr. was in his corner for the championship victory, while his brother Gary Antuanne Russell is also a world champion.

Now, Gary Antonio Russell sits in the championship picture at 122 pounds. He talks with Wole about:

🏈 From Annapolis, Maryland to professional football — Nehemiah Carter’s journey is about resilience, perseverance and refusing to give up on a dream.

Wole sits down with Maryland native and professional defensive back Nehemiah Carter to discuss his football journey, the obstacles he has overcome and what continues to motivate him to keep pushing forward.

Growing up in Annapolis, Maryland, football became much more than a game for Carter. It gave him something to work toward and helped him stay focused while navigating a difficult childhood.

Carter eventually starred at Old Mill High School, earning All-County honors at safety before continuing his football career at Bluefield University. At Bluefield, he developed as a versatile defensive back, playing safety and nickel while also contributing on special teams. His college career included First Team All-Conference honors and two Defensive Player of the Week selections.

After graduating in 2025, Carter faced another challenge: finding his opportunity in professional football.

Instead of walking away from the dream, he kept training, pursuing opportunities and working to get better. His journey eventually led to professional football opportunities and the Pueblo Punishers of the National Arena League.

Wole and Mo recap the Baltimore Ravens’ 24-18 victory over the Tennessee Titans and the biggest storyline coming out of Week 4 — Lamar Jackson’s ankle injury.

🐦‍⬛🏈 Baltimore improved to 3-1 after building a 24-7 halftime lead and surviving Tennessee’s second-half comeback. Jackson was excellent before leaving at halftime, completing 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers. The Ravens improved to 2-1 after Tyler Loop drilled a 56-yard game-winning field goal as time expired at Maracanã Stadium. Lamar Jackson first connected with Zay Flowers for 27 yards with seven seconds remaining to put Baltimore in position for the walk-off kick.

The Washington Commanders earned their first win of the 2026 season with a dramatic 33-31 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks at Northwest Stadium.
